About SSC

By far, the benefits of steel in construction have not been realised and understood fully. As a result, HERA and the University of Auckland entered a joint research program titled "Sustainable Buildings and Steel" to look at steel sustainability in construction.

Sustainable Steel Construction (SSC) is a website as a key outcome of this research program. Its purpose is to promote and support steel sustainability in construction in NZ through the provision of aid information such as project case studies to industry.

SSC was launched in December 2007 as part of the main HERA website (hera.org.nz) and is currently managed by HERA. It is acknowledged that John Jing (a structural engineer, researcher, and web/software developer) made significant contribution to the development of the SSC site.
